eBook - Embracing the End-of-Life Journey

A beautiful story of learning to share the gifts of compassion, spiritual connection and peace.

Embracing the End-of-Life Journey is a sensitive and inspiring personal account of learning how to be fully present and comfortable with the time we have left with our loved ones as they approach the end of their lives. Author and spiritual teacher Wendy Jordan shares how she learned Reiki energy healing techniques for her own personal healing and comfort after her father’s death, then discovered ways to spiritually journey with her hospice patients, clients, friends and even her beloved dog – creating lasting soul connections.

A heart-opening “must read” for family members, caregivers and Reiki practitioners dedicated to supporting the end-of-life journey.

  • Excerpts from Embracing the End-of-Life Journey

…”Often people feel the need to do something more for their dying loved ones-something beyond and in addition to traditional hospice or clergy visits. As the physical body quiets, tires, and changes and more time is spent sleeping or unconscious, this is the time to connect with loved ones on a soul level. This is a time to embrace each other, not only in the physical, but in some other way – a way that feels timeless and complete.”

…”Angela was having fun. Here was a woman facing her death and yet she was able to feel childlike, creative and fun. What a blessing that she was able to find humor… Using our imaginations is one of the most healing and comforting techniques for relaxation and enjoyment.”

…”In the summer of 2006, my hardest yet most profound lesson began. This was the experience that would open me up, break my heart, fill me with love and inspire me to make changes in my life. It held moments of great joy and deep sadness, and brought forth the gifts of friendship, hope, support and surrender. This is the story of a very special child.

As I thought about writing this book, I wondered if this story should be included. All the other chapters were about experiences I entered into knowing that the person I was going to work with already knew that they were going to die soon and they were looking for some comfort. This was different. This was not a hospice call or a family asking me for a spiritual treatment. This was not a sick relative. This was a family looking for a Reiki treatment for their child.

As I look back at my first visit now, I realize that entering the hospital room in “healer” mode, as opposed to “hospice” mode, might have made all the difference in the experience that was to come. But first, let me go back to the beginning. ”

…”And then the next lesson presented itself. This was again going to be a hard lesson, but one that would teach me about journeying in a very new and different way. I became aware that my dog was starting on his final journey, too.”
